Are you trying to decide between interior design or starting a staging business? I struggled with the same decision myself and
found I was more attracted to a career in home staging because, as a single mother, I needed to start earning money right away. And the idea of spending 2-4 years in a classroom with people 20 years younger than me while I earned a degree in Interior Design wasn’t overly appealing either.
Once I became a home stager, I discovered that there were plenty of opportunities for me to do interior redesign and color consulting projects as well. The difference was I was getting hired by people who never would have dreamed of calling an Interior Designer.
Let’s face it, most people assume that’s just for “rich people.” There’s a much larger market catering to middle- and upper-middle income families who need help because they’re too busy to figure it all out themselves, or they just don’t have the creative eye we do.
